Where we are

Blackbeard's is in the private, gated beachside community of Costambar on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, across the street from the Caribbean. Puerto Plata is easily reachable from anywhere in the United States, Canada and Europe.

    We do not pick up here. Buses leave hourly, 6am to 6pm, and you still need taxis to and from the bus stations.

Driving directions

  • Driving from Puerto Plata Airport (POP)
    1. Turn right as you leave the airport and take the main highway out of Puerto Plata, heading toward Santiago.
    2. As you leave Puerto Plata there is a Texaco station on the right hand side. About ¾ of a mile further on, just after a bridge, take the next right — there is a sign that says COSTAMBAR.
    3. Stay on this road to the main entrance of the community. Once through the gated entrance, keep to the main road.
    4. You will pass Jenny's Supermarket on the right and a pharmacy on the left. About 300 yards further the road splits: take the left fork and go past the taxi stand.
    5. Turn right at the first road, follow it, and turn right at the 3rd street (Calle Enriquillo). We are about 200 yards up on the right — our sign will be on your left.
  • Driving from Santiago (STI)
    1. Leaving Santiago, take the main highway toward Navarrete / Puerto Plata. The highway forks at Navarrete — take the road to Puerto Plata.
    2. As you get close to Puerto Plata you will see the entrance to Playa Cofresí / Ocean World on the left.
    3. About a mile and a half further on there is a stop light with the University on your left. Turn left two streets past the University; this takes you into Costambar.
    4. Through the gated entrance, keep to the main road past Jenny's Supermarket on the right and the pharmacy on the left. About 300 yards on, take the left fork past the taxi stand.
    5. Turn right at the first road, then right at the 3rd street (Calle Enriquillo). We are about 100 yards up on the right hand side.
  • Coming from Santo Domingo (SDQ)
    1. By taxi: a car from the airport straight through to Puerto Plata costs about US$220.
    2. By bus: take a taxi from the airport to the Caribe Tours station (about US$25). Buses leave every hour on the hour from 6:00am to 6:00pm and cost about US$10.
    3. From the Caribe Tours station in Puerto Plata, a taxi to the hotel costs about US$17.
